I am currently working on a PhD project under the direction of Dave Otis. I completed my M.S. degree at Auburn University studying the relationship of a number of spatial and temporal factors to variation in nest survival for a population of Canada geese in south central Alaska. My current work at ISU will focus on developing methodology for a national monitoring program for mourning dove recruitment and examining within season variation in reproductive output of doves.

My research interests to this point have focused on population ecology of birds. I am interested in research that spans the interface between basic and applied ecology. My work up to this point has focused on techniques used in the estimation of population parameters and how these estimates can be used to inform management of declining populations and used to give insight into basic ecological processes. As part of my disertation work I will continue this as part of an effort to estimate recruitment of doves on regional scales to inform harvest management of the population. At the same time I hope to expand on this with the integration population modeling and by studying physiological mechanisms that control life history strategies in doves.
